Vienna’s English Theatre visited the BSC Murau to put Shakespeare’s Hamlet on stage. The audience followed the protagonist’s development from being a mourning son seeking revenge for his father’s foul murder to becoming a deliberate lunatic who even abandons his girlfriend for the greater good of vengeance. In the final showdown, everyone dies, leaving the audience in despair. The performance was truly worth seeing, and the students enjoyed the show very much. Even though one could argue that the themes in Hamlet are outdated today, the students at least got in touch with a major piece of world literature.
